"I fell one night walking my dog and rolled my ankle badly. I’ve been promoted twice in less than a year and received three raises."ġ2. Once I was ready, I turned in my notice and didn’t look back. "I realized my career would become stagnant there, so I gave myself a year to learn it all before jumping ship. Every time I asked, I was told they were 'still working on it.' They held my performance review and raise for six months. Because it was a 'new' role, they couldn’t give me my title (some excuse). I ended up in a financial role with no clear scope of responsibilities or guidance. They couldn’t write me up or fire me, so they had to keep me. "The witch hunt and stress they put me through for 60 days resulted in zero performance findings. So, they created one by moving me to another department. She had been trying for almost a year to come back to the corporate office, but there were no vacancies available. "Two months later, I was called into HR and told that the company had a new vision and that I would be moved into another role. The feedback was vague, so he did another survey and specifically solicited negative feedback. "A few days later, I learned the CEO sent out an email to our company asking for feedback about my department. I landed on the CEO's radar after I refused to make an exception to a state rule that another manager (who everyone secretly knew was the CEO's girlfriend) kept pressuring me to make. I was the youngest manager, and a minority. "I was a manager at a very antiquated, conservative medical supplies company. "It's really sad, because it used to be a really fun place to work."ġ0. I know people who have been there 10+ years who got very little notice that they're about to be unemployed because they don't have a private room with a wired connection and lockable door in their multi-kid house. If you don't have a fast enough computer or reliable internet at home, you either need to get those things, or at the end of a month, you're out of a job. Sounds good in theory, but they gave everyone less than 30 days notice, and they're not providing equipment. "The latest 'new and exciting' change is going 100% remote. "They're 100% trying to drive people to quit so they can replace us cheaper overseas. We don't even have a phone number to contact them. They eliminated the position and rerouted our complaints to another state. "Our local office no longer has an HR office. They've steadily been taking away things we always used to have, big things like how fast we earned sick time or PTO, and 'little' things like the ice machine in the break room or employee appreciation days or picnics. "They took away our yearly raises and doubled the amount of time between raises.
